Question:
Hi CQD. Are federal pacific electrical panels illegal to have at a residence? Thanks, Rick Samson
A
Answer:
Hi Rick, the NEC® does not prohibit the use of any one specific manufacturer of electrical equipment. However, if a product is unsafe or has been recalled for any reason this would create a hazard and could provide a reasoning to an AHJ for requiring a repair or replacement. The
Consumer Product Safety Commission will have information on any recalls issued on a specific product. It is also worth mentioning that many insurance companies will no longer provide insurance on a home that has a FPE/Stab-Lok type breakers and panel.
